MINUTES MAY 1932. SHREVE MEMORIAL LIBRARY MINUTES MAY 1932. The Shreve Memorial Library Board met in the Librarian's office, May 13th, at 5 P.M. Members present were: Mrs. John P. Hird, Mrs. Clarence King, Mr. John H. Tucker, Mr. J. Fair Hardin, and Mayor George W. Hardy. The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. The monthly financial statement was read. The Librarian reported that the Authors Club had presented as a loan to the Library, a framed picture of George Washington, which could be hung on the wall of the library indefinitely, or until such time as the organization had club rooms of their own. Mr. Hardin moved that the picture be accepted as a loan, Mrs. King seconded the motion, and the motion was passed. The Librarian reported that it was necessary that some work be done in the Government Documents department; assorting, classifying and arranging the documents in order that they may be more accessible to the public for use. This was discussed, and an allotment of $150.00 designated for the job. A motion was made by Mrs. King, seconded and passed, that the Librarian find out the necessity for the work, and when completed if it could be kept up without extra expense, and that this information be reported at the next meeting of the Board. It was requested by the Librarian, that the Board authorize an invitation to be extended the Louisiana Library Association to hold its next annual meeting in Shreveport. The Board moved that a formal invitation be extended the Louisiana Library Association to hold its 1933 meeting in Shreveport. There being no further business the meeting was adjourned. Lois White Henderson Secretary of the Board.
