Library Board of Control Minutes July 8, 1991, Page 2 committee members agreed the plan should be perceived as the library's plan not the consultants' and having more options allows more involvement from staff members. Haller Jackson made a motion on behalf of the Planning Committee for -the Board's adoption of the proposal by Carol Brown and Barbara Gubbin. Earnest Lampkins seconded the motion. The motion carried. Ellen Caverlee asked if the sub-committees are made up exclusively of the Planning Process Committee members or if this is the time for the Board Members to become involved as previously discussed. Terri Dickerson was asked to mail the descriptions of the subcommittees and a sign-up sheet to the Board members not presently on the Planning Committee. They will be able to choose which, if any, of the sub-committees they would like to serve on. MISSION STATEMENT A Mission statement prepared by the Planning Process Committee was presented - to the Board members for their adoption -as Shreve Memorial Library's Mission statement. Mavice Wallette asked if the Mission statement would be changed by the consultants if they saw the need. Jim Pelton said the statement could be changed if necessary. Haller Jackson moved and Orella Brazile seconded a motion to adopt the Mission statement. The motion carried. FRIENDS OF- LIBRARY The Friends of Library Committee has not held a meeting as of this date. The only member of the Friends committee present today was Barbara Pendleton. Lane Sartor chairs the Friends of the Library Committee. Today Barbara Pendleton received the video and book which was left by Mrs. Rials from the statewide Friends of Library group at the May 13th meeting. CADDO PARISH BUDGET COMMITTEE MEETING Cindy Ortego and Mavice Wallette attended the Caddo Parish Budget Committee Meeting on behalf of Shreve Memorial Library. The meeting was held on Tuesday, July 2, 1991. Mavice Wallette asked Hersey Wilson to explain the report she and Cindy Ortego received (please see attached report). Hersey Wilson explained that the report handed out is strictly related to those agencies which fall under the general fund budget. Shreve Memorial Library receives funds from a dedicated millage. There will be a meeting with Lloyd Lenard in the near future for those agencies which have a dedicated millage. The Budget Committee is asking agencies to be careful when making requests for equipment, supplies, etc. They would like each agency to be sure their
