MEETING COMMISSION SHREVE MEMORIAL LIBRARY OCTOBER 30th, 1925. IN THE LIBRARY. The meeting of the Library Commission for October was held in the Librarian's Office October 30th, 1925. Members present: Mayor L.E. Thomas, Mr. Philip Lieber, Mrs. Pleasant, Mrs. Sewall and Mrs. Bailie. The subject of due publicity for the Library thru the papers was brought before the Board by Mrs. Bailie. Informal discussion and the Librarian was instructed to keep the Library before the public thru the papers. It was moved by Mrs. Sewall that Mrs. Crain be placed on the Library staff to fill the unexpired term of Miss Gregory who resigned October 1st. Bills of the Library presented. Moved by Mrs. Bailie that these bills be approved and paid. The motion was passed. A request from Delphians by letter came before the Board for the use of Auditorium. Librarian reported that Delphians had secured a place of meeting. The question was dropped. What to be done with books returned from homes where contagious diseases have developed. It was moved by Mrs. Bailie that all such books be destroyed. Motion carried. It was decided that all books lost in Allendale fire should not be paid for. The Library having been entered five times by thieves, it was suggested that iron bars be put on the windows on the ground floor. The suggestion met with approval. Request from the doctors: they wished to place their books and periodicals in the Library. In return the Library to give such service as cataloguing and research work. No formal action was taken. It was suggested that the service be given if the Doctors paid part salary. Furniture for Children's room was discussed and the Librarian was instructed to get bids from all local concerns and other places, which bids should be sent to and opened by the Mayor. An appropriation for the Library for next year was brought before the Board. The Chair appointed a budget committee: Mr. Philip Leiber, Mrs. Sewall and the Librarian.
