MINUTES OF MARCH 1933. SHREVE MEMORIAL LIBRARY BOARD MINUTES MARCH - - 1933. The Shreve Memorial Library Board met in the Librarians office, March 10th at 5:00 P.M. Members present were: Mrs. Wiltz M. Ledbetter, Mrs. John P. Hird, Mrs. Clarence King, Mrs. C.H. Lyons, Mr. John H. Tucker, Mr. J. Fair Hardin and Mayor Geo. W. Hardy. Eight members present, this constituting a quorum business was transacted. The financial report and minutes of the January meeting read and approved. Discussion of library hours and library opening. It was definitely decided to keep the library open with the hours the same, i.e. 9:00 A.M. to 7:00 P.M. After discussion of opening Negro Branch it was decided to open a Branch for the Negroes -- using what books were available from donations and replacements. A small expenditure for necessary supplies would be the only expenditure connected with this Branch Library, the Negroes themselves taking all financial responsibility for rent of building and heat and light and the assistant in charge. The Board decided to extend library privileges free of charge to Barksdale Field -- Officers signing their own cards and the non-commissioned officers and enlisted men securing the signature of their Commanding Officer before his card would be accepted. No further business coming before the Board meeting was adjourned to meet in April. Respectfully submitted, Lois White Henderson, Secretary.
