SML Board Meeting January 9, 1995, Page 4 Glenn O'Bryan moved and Sally Montgomery seconded the motion that the Board accept the slate of officers for 1995 and 1996 as proposed by the nominating committee. All were in favor. Motion carried. Meeting Dates Jim. Pelton reported that Marion Weiss has requested the Board meeting date be reviewed for possible changes. A survey was taken during the meeting to determine the best date and time for future Board meetings. The Board of Control reached a consensus to continue Board meeting dates on the second Monday every two months at 12:00 noon. Librarian's Report The director expressed that the Board should consider a potential date for another tax election for implementing the Library's Long Range plans for expansion and improvements. Jim Pelton and Haller Jackson stated that we should fare better in a larger election. Orella Brazile stated that a poll should be taken to determine what elections are planned in 1995. The Library's campaign will need to be re-organized for a larger election, and should begin earlier than in the past. The director asked Buck McGee to inform the Board of any elections planned by the City of Shreveport for 1995. Haller Jackson offered to make presentations in support of the Long Range plans before the City Council or other meetings. Glenn O'Bryan expressed his concern with the attendance record of some Board members. He asked if there is an attendance rule. Orella Brazile reported that the Board President is responsible for procedures regarding poor attendance. Haller Jackson suggested adding the issue of attendance to the agenda of the next Board meeting. In the meantime, the staff should do a synopsis of attendance for the last two years. The results should be sent to all Board members approximately two weeks before the March meeting.
