Permission was granted by the Norton Art Foundation for the exhibit to remain on display throughout anniversary week and for about three years after that. A series of programs held at the library during anniversary week were sponsored by 33 Shreveport women's literary and patriotic clubs. Three speakers, an exhibit and a Great Books discussion were featured during the week. This was the calendar: Monday, December 6, The Rev. William A. Alexander, pastor of the First PResbyterian Church, speaking n his tour of South America; Tuesday, December 7, an exhibit of glassware, antiques, paintings and hooked rugs; Wednesday, December 8, Great Books discussion on Aristotle's "ethics" and "politics;" Thursday, December 9, address by James Aswell, author of "The Midsummer Fires," who spoke on "Twenty-Five Exciting Years in Fiction;" Friday, December 10, Talk illustrated with moving pictures, by Dr. E.L. Ford, Centenary professor, who told of his trip through several European nations. Five-hundred and seventy column-inches of publicity on the anniversary appeared in the two daily papers during November and December. This included society and news stores on the tea and programs, weekly releases on the photographic contest, feature stories with pictures, and editorials. A history-feature was printed in The Shreveport Magazine, and the cover of the December issue was devoted to the library. Brief articles were accepted for publications in the house organs of Arkansas-Louisiana Gas Co. and Southwestern Gas and Electric Co., and an attractive display in a Chamber of Commerce window in the Washington-Youree hotel proclaimed
